Atropa Dunny by Jason Limon.

In Jason Limon’s post-apocalyptic Earth, humans have ravaged the planet, and plant life has found a way to make a drastic shift to survive. Atropa comes to fruition, and in abundance, consumes the planet.

They commandeer the bodies of remaining people and animals, blending mammal and plant to create a new life form. Body becomes seed, leaves become wings, and memories live on flowering vines. Atropa is the new life form, and the only one that can survive.

Atropa is a type of flowering plant, the name deriving from Atropos, the oldest of the three fates in Greek mythology that ended the life of each mortal by cutting their thread.

April 9th is the opening date for nominations for " The Designer Toy Awards 2012

Clutter has just announced that nominations for the 2012 edition of the Designer Toy Awards will  use a two-tier process.  First, the public is invited to nominate  choices for the full list of award categories (after the jump), beginning on April 9th. Once that’s completed, nomination committees will cull the publicly nominated individuals, companies, toys, down to 10-15 nominees per award.   In my opinion, this is a definite improvement over last year’s system which resulted in voters having to choose between extremely large number of choices for some awards.    Look for announcement of the nominees at SDCC in July, followed by the DTA 2012 awards ceremony in October at NYCC.

ToyCon hits the UK for the first time in 2013.

You read it right folks... the UK is finally getting their our designer toy convention, and it's about time if you ask me! The talent pool runs deep over there with not only artists, but with customizers, designers, shops, and everything else that would make for a great convention! That being said three Designer Toy fans Jonjo    Glynn, Ben Hart and Barry Darnell have announced the launch of the UKs first ever designer toy convention...  'ToyCon UK'. Taking place, a year from today, on Saturday, April 6th 2013 at Baden Powell house in Kensington, the event will bring together the UKs finest. Exhibitors already confirmed include: A Little Stranger, Cris Rose, Doktor A, Fugi.me, Hang Gang, Lunabee , Jon-Paul Kaiser, Matt "Lunartik" Jones, Mintyfresh, TADO, Triclops, The Tarantulas, Squink, Ume Toys, and Unbox Industries! So you may ask, how does this effect us over here, you know - across the pond... well, you have an entire year to start saving money for travel, that's how :-) and just like other conventions, they plan on having workshops, prize giveaways, live painting, show exclusives and a whole plethora of artist signings giving fans the chance to meet their favorites. Kidrobot releases new size DIY Munny toys.

On Thursday 12th April Kidrobot will be releasing 4 new DIY platform toys,Standard Munny, Raffy, Trikky and Fommi will all be available in the all new 7 inch format. 
This has now given you a wider range of DIY toys to work on, 4" , 7". 8" , and 20" So all you designers lets see some more magic on these new toys.

Minikiki and Given Collective at Toffie pop festival

On Saturday 31st March Minikiki and Given Collective joined forces to do a custom shoe colab at the Toffie festival. The theme was nature verse robot. This attracted a large amount of interest and great fun. The shoes will be going on display at Toitoy and if you are a Size 10 and are keen on having them contact me with a bid for them as we will donate the money to a charity still to be decided on.

Koralie Arlequine 3" Dunny.

When Koralie does a Dunny she does a incredible job of it. Korali together with Kidrobot will be releasing he new Arlequine Dunny on April 12th 2012. This piece will be limited to 1500 and will be a Kidrobot exclusive store release only, it is set to sell at $14.95.

Toy2r release 2 new DIY's

Toy2R has announced the release of 2 new 5"Mini Qee's DIY.They are Melting Bear and Spike Bear.There will be 4 colours available White,Pink,Red and black.
It will be interesting to see what all the talents out there will do with this new surface to work on.
They will be released in April and will sell for $20.00.

Toffie Pop Festival

This weekend from Friday 30th March until Sunday 1st April will be the Toffie pop festival being held at the Cape Town city hall.
If you have not attended one of the previous 2 then you should not miss this one. There is a great line up of lectures and classes.
On Saturday we will have the Given Collective and Minikikiart who will be customizing a pair of shoes at the show.
Sam Breakspear will also be there show off her great talent.
Come past and say hi to us if you are at the festival.

Paws Raw

We have just received our stock of Paws Raw edition, this is the first time Coarse toys have sold any of their figures in a DIY format. This amazing piece stands 12" tall. I will be giving 1 to Abe Viljoen to do as a custom. We have 3 in stock so hurry if you want to lay your hands on one.

Kronk and The Given at Design Indaba

Yesterday 04/03/2012 Kronk and The Given  (Abe Viljoen ) did a custom workshop at design indaba for a group of very enthusiastic young designers. Toitoy supplied the 4' Munny DIY toys for this workshop. Even though our time was limited there was some great work done by all involved,even some dads got involved. We hope to be part of this great event next year.

Toffie Festival Cape Town.

Cape town will be having the Toffie festival this year from 30th March to 1st April at the Cape Town City Hall.
We will be part of this festival again and will have Soledesign with us customising shoes to your specific requirements. On Saturday 31st March "The Given" will join Soledesign to create a pair of shoes.

Bondage 10-inch Smorkin’ Labbit by Kozik

Well this is something i have been waiting for for a long time, after Kozik's release of his mini labbits bondage pack about 2 years ago this was going to happen.
Frank Kozik’s Bondage Labbit is back and looking for a master to make all of his dreams come true! His newest outfit has all the necessary details – collar with chain leash, plus a very special hole in his zippered mouth to keep him smorkin’ all night long. Something this wrong just has to be right. 
He will be released on 22nd March 2012 and is limited to 1200 pieces.

Super Fattie 6-inch FatCap

Queen Andrea  will be adding something special to her latest Fat cap release. Kidrobot will be releasing a 6" Queen Andrea fat cap which will be limited to 1000 pieces and will have a 1 in 6 chase version.This piece is covered completely with  her amazing skills and designs. Queen Andrea’s palette of electric blues and vibrant greens makes this figure pop, and the purple and gray chase is equally beautiful. This fat cap will be released on the 22nd March 2012.
