Kronk and The Given at Design Indaba

Yesterday 04/03/2012 Kronk and The Given  (Abe Viljoen ) did a custom workshop at design indaba for a group of very enthusiastic young designers. Toitoy supplied the 4' Munny DIY toys for this workshop. Even though our time was limited there was some great work done by all involved,even some dads got involved. We hope to be part of this great event next year.

Toffie Festival Cape Town.

Cape town will be having the Toffie festival this year from 30th March to 1st April at the Cape Town City Hall.
We will be part of this festival again and will have Soledesign with us customising shoes to your specific requirements. On Saturday 31st March "The Given" will join Soledesign to create a pair of shoes.

Bondage 10-inch Smorkin’ Labbit by Kozik

Well this is something i have been waiting for for a long time, after Kozik's release of his mini labbits bondage pack about 2 years ago this was going to happen.
Frank Kozik’s Bondage Labbit is back and looking for a master to make all of his dreams come true! His newest outfit has all the necessary details – collar with chain leash, plus a very special hole in his zippered mouth to keep him smorkin’ all night long. Something this wrong just has to be right. 
He will be released on 22nd March 2012 and is limited to 1200 pieces.

Super Fattie 6-inch FatCap

Queen Andrea  will be adding something special to her latest Fat cap release. Kidrobot will be releasing a 6" Queen Andrea fat cap which will be limited to 1000 pieces and will have a 1 in 6 chase version.This piece is covered completely with  her amazing skills and designs. Queen Andrea’s palette of electric blues and vibrant greens makes this figure pop, and the purple and gray chase is equally beautiful. This fat cap will be released on the 22nd March 2012.

Gary Baseman x TLS – Buckingham Warrior Wolyner Forest Edition

From the fertile mind of Gary Baseman comes the Buckingham Warrior – an elaborate 12” art toy produced by The Loyal Subjects.  This one’s been in development for quite awhile, so we’re pretty excited to hear it’s about to drop. While many think of Baseman as strictly a painter, he is in fact a storyteller, imbuing each of his characters with a mythology that reflects upon and comments on modern society.

This legendary deer’s story begins in the Woylner Forest where a once idyllic life with his fellow creatures is violently upset by a tyrannical land baron and his men’s efforts to occupy and subjugate the forest.    In an act of ultimate resistance, the deer regrows his head and several others after being decapitated in battle, and in so doing so becomes the Buckingham Warrior.  Inspired in part by Baseman’s father’s experience of Holocaust survival, the Buckingham Warrior defends not only the forest and the natural world but  in a broader context tradition, culture, and ways of life from forces of intolerance and evil.   He represents and protects precious ideals such as respect, dignity and freedom on multiple levels.

The green Wolyner Forest Warrior, the first edition of the Buckingham Warrior vinyl art toy, is due in April from The Loyal Subjects.  The large-format 12” figure features an elaborate multi-headed sculpt complete with numerous  antlers and leaves throughout.  The piece offers Baseman’s artistry in a form that can still rightfully call itself a toy.  With numerous points of articulation (all three heads, two arms, and three legs) and removable decapitated head and sword, this is an art toy and not merely a vinyl sculpture.  Limited to 400 pieces, the 12” Wolyner Forest Warrior will be available for pre-order from The Loyal Subjects on Wednesday, February 22nd @ Noon PST for $115.

Well... my name is Chelsea Barrow and im a second year Jewellery student at Stellenbosch University, a toy collector, and im a wildlife photographer. I was inspired by one of my photographs to turn my Munny into what it is. It was the first time i have ever made my own toy and i loved it! Cant wait to get cracking on my next one. His name is Notch.

When i see this kind of talent walk into the shop i realize that i am making a difference by supplying people with these amazing platforms to work on.

Sole DXB - The Middle East's Sneaker Summit

On the 15th of December 2011 we had the launch of the Toitoy x Puma collaboration that took place at our shop in Cape Town.We selected 12 Local artists gave them a blank 4" Mini munny from Kidrobot and a pair of Puma High top sneakers to customise. The Theme was "The streets you live on".
 What can i say about the quality of the works produced, they are fantastic.
Puma SA contacted me to advise  that we have been asked to send all 12 customs to "The Middle East's  International Sneaker Summit" in Dubai on 27/28th April 2012.
I would like to thank all 12 designers for their amazing work, and am so proud to be part of this incredible group of upcoming artists.
The Artist involved are: The Given , Kronk , Samantha Breakspear , Ivana Raguz , Wihan Mouton , Dave Maclennan , Frank Skullboy , Greg Darroll , Soledesign , Atang Tshikore , Hanna Hughes and Illana DeJager.

Android Series 3.

In the second quarter of this year there will be a new series of Androids being released.Some of the artists involved in this series are  Andrew Bell, Gary Ham, Huck Gee, kaNO, MAD, KRONK, Kelly Denato, Scott Tolleson andSket-One. This series will be a very limited series with only one release. Watch this space for more details regarding the release.

This Thursday 26th January 2012 will be the release of FatCap Series 3  Be one of the lucky few to scoop up one of the two rare and regional case pack exclusives. North American locations will have a very limited amount of Sket One’s “Cover The Cap”, and everywhere else will have the endangered design by Scribe, “Almost Gone.”
